We all live in a modern world. A world where anything and everything is within a person’s reach, thanks to the advent of technology, progress in society has reached great heights and is still constantly growing higher! Every person deserves to live a life of convenience is which is why we must all do our part of saving the world.

If this concerning situation continues, an environmental crisis is looming near, ready to take away what everyone knows. That is why taking action is vital. Ronald J. Fischer writes “Cities In Orbit And The End Is Near,” sharing with book lovers a story that is set in the late twenty-first century, where the world is now in deeply bad shape due to neglect. With the temperature of the earth and the oceans rising high and fast, hurricanes, tornadoes, and flooding are now more likely to occur than ever.

With people’s lack of attention to taking care of the environment, the pressing reality grows nearer: the destruction of the world that every living being knows. If this devastating situation keeps up, more severe natural disasters and the gradual breakdown of the ecosystem that sustains life itself will soon be obsolete. It cannot be denied that, yes, this all seems overwhelming to take in, but if people help one another together, anything is possible. Each one of us holds the power and responsibility to make a difference. So, let’s do our part to save the world we live in. How? Here are ways to help fight climate change in your everyday lives:

Speak up and Spread the word

It is high time to encourage your close friends, family, and even co-workers to reduce their carbon pollution. So speak up and spread the word!

Keep up with the necessary political pressure

Leaders have a massive impact on a team. Take part and lobby local politicians and businesses to support any possible means of cutting emissions and reduce carbon pollution. Choose an environmental issue that you care most about, think about what specific request you seek for change, and then arrange a meeting with a local representative.

Change your mode of transportation

Did you know that transportation accounts for around a quarter of all greenhouse gas emissions around the world?  Yes, you read that right. You can start by choosing to leave the car at home and walk or cycle your way through your destination as much as you possibly can!

Control your power usage

If possible, it is best to switch to zero-carbon or a renewable energy provider. You can also try to install solar panels on your roof. Remember to execute the basics too such as switching off appliances and/or lights off whenever they are not in use. Better yet, purchase the most efficient products to maximize efficiency of power usage and also save your hard-earned money in the long run.

Change your diet up a bit

Did you know? As of present, around 60 percent of the world’s agricultural land is used for livestock grazing, and many people around the world consume more animal-sources food than is healthy for all. So eat as many plant-based meals as much as you can because not only will our planet be thankful, but so will your body!

Choose to buy products that are local and sustainable

When buying local and seasonal foods, you are also contributing to the reduction of the food’s carbon footprint. Aside from that, businesses, and especially farms, in your area will be thankful to you, too, by offering them support and reducing fuel emissions associated with cold chain storage and transport. Sustainable agriculture consumes up to 56 percent less energy. With that said, choose to buy products that are local and sustainable!

Never waste food

Did you know that one-third of all food produced either goes lost or ends up wasted? UNEP’s Food Waste Index Report states that people around the world waste 1 billion tons of food every year, which accounts for over 8-10 percent of global greenhouse gas emissions.

With all that said, it all comes down to one thing: taking action. The dangers of climate change should be more than enough reason for people to push themselves to live a more eco-friendly and sustainable lifestyle.

For book lovers out there who love to read about climate change and its possible effects on the world and more, order a copy of “Cities in Orbit and the End is Near!” Lastly, keep in mind that you should live a better life not only for yourself but also for your loved ones. Choose a healthier and more sustainable lifestyle because it’s time to do our part in saving the world we live in.
